Frequently Asked Questions
1. How does this all work?
Once you schedule a service and time I use the information you put into your intake paper work, to come to your address and set up my table in your home so that you can receive a massage in the comfort of your own space. I bring all my own materials, oil, table, sheets. You only need to provide yourself and the space to set up in.
2. What kind of space do you need?
So the one thing I do need from a client that I come out to, is space to work on them. The minimum space I can work in with a massage table is 6x12 feet of open room. With the Massage chair it's 5x5 feet of open space. If you do not have the space requirements I will be unable to perform the massage.
3. Is it okay if there's stairs?
Yes, it's okay if there are stairs on your property but since the table I have to carry is very heavy there is a $20 fee for a flight of stairs more than 6 steps.
4. Is there a cancellation fee?
Yes, there is a cancellation fee of $35 for cancellations less than 24 hours before the time of the appointment.
5. Can you take insurance?
No, unfortunately with how the system for setting up insurance works, it would take many extra hours of paperwork for me to do daily as well, potentially take years to get on the list of preferred providers because the insurance companies don't like to 'have too many providers in any specific specialty within a certain radius' because that is how they steer people to certain practices.
6. What forms of payment do you accept?
Through MassageBook I accept cash, credit/debit cards, and checks. They also employ square app which allows me to take credit and debit cards, digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay, and Cash App Pay.
7. Can I book for a friend/family member?
Yes, you can book for someone else as long as they are not a minor (you can book for a minor if you are their appointed guardian). However, you will be responsible for the late cancellation fee if the person you've booked for doesn't show up to the appointment you've made for them.
8. Are there any weight restrictions?
The massage table I use can hold a person up to 400 lbs.
9. Do I have to get undressed?
It is preferred that you remove your clothing while on the table but if you're not comfortable you can keep as much on as you like and I will work with what we've got. That can mean a less deep massage or a difference in what techniques I can employ because I may not have direct skin contact. All chair massages though are done through the clothing.
10. Do you work on children?
Yes, I can work on children. Depending on the age of child there are some considerations such as any child under the age of ten must be accompanied by their parent or guardian through the duration of the massage. Children between the ages of 11-18 need a parent or guardian there through the first 5 minutes during the consultation at the beginning. This is because small children don't fully understand body autonomy and the right to tell an adult in a position of power over them that they don't like whats going on. They may be uncomfortable or unable to communicate if pressure is too much or if they're not a fan of the work and would rather get off the table instead. For teenagers the 5 minutes is so that the parent is there to confirm they understand these same rules. If they're uncomfortable in any way or don't wish to continue treatment, they understand that I will not force them to receive any body work they're not fully on board with.
11. What kind of oil do you use?
I use a combination of Safflower and Avocado oil during massage because there are very few people who are allergic to them. If you have allergies please note them in your intake paperwork so I can make sure nothing I am using causes any reactions.
12. What kind of detergent do you use on your sheets?
All Free and Clear is what I use to clean my massage sheets, If you have any allergies please note them in your intake paperwork so I can make sure nothing I am using causes any reactions.
13. Can I have you use my own lotion/oil instead of yours?
Yes, if the bottle you've provided contains an ingredient list. I have some allergies of my own so if it's something home made I can't risk using it and having a reaction. As long as I can rule out any allergens, I would be happy to accommodate.
14. Are you licensed?
Yes, I have a massage license that is posted on my booking page. I've been a licensed practitioner for over 10 years.
15. Are you CPR/First aid certified
Yes, I am trained in basic first aid and CPR on both adults and children should the need occur.
